Eight years ago, Steve Jobs and Apple re-invented the phone with the introduction of iPhone. On January 9, 2007, after years of rumors and speculation, the iPhone was announced finally announced.

"I have been looking forward to this for two and a half years" Jobs said. "Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone." The original iPhone phone was locked to AT&T, had only 2G EDGE Service, and launched June 29, 2007. Many stores sold out within minutes even at the price point $499 for the 4GB version and $599 for the 8GB version.

Its crazy how people don't realize that without apple, they would be holding a completely different device in their hand nowadays. Whether it be samsung, motorola.. They wouldn't have become what they are today if it wasn't for the iPhone. RIP jobs, and thank you for what you have done for the world of technology :)

Exactly!! Everyone is always like iPhones suck and crap. Im well if they suck thats an opinion because i love my iPhone and if it wasn't for jobs you wouldn't be holding a smartphone

If it wasn't for Apple, no one would have the future of smartphones that learned from their master (competition moved on because of Apple in general). That's mainly why I never stopped loving iphone.

Ha! I remember the launch day here in Philadelphia our Mayor was first in line to get an iPhone... Which I thought was hilarious at the time.
