Apple suppliers have begun mass production of components for three next generation iPhones, reports DigiTimes. Sources say both a 4.7-inch model and 5.5-inch model feature a reinforced glass chassis with an aluminum metal frame and a 5.8-inch model features a reinforced glass chassis with metal frame and an AMOLED panel.

Samsung is set to supply up to 80 million AMOLED panels for the 5.8-inch iPhone this year. The company's remaining capacity of another 80 million will be used to supply Samsung Electronics and other smartphone clients but it's expected to keep some flexibility in case Apple places more orders.

Shipments for the new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones are expected to reach around 25-30 million units in the second half of 2017. The new 5.8-inch iPhone is expected to see shipments between 50-55 million units in the second half of the year; however, because mass production is said to start after mid-September, production volumes in the third quarter are estimated at just 3 million units.
