CoinForge has released California Parks 1.1 for iPhone and iPod touch. California Parks is a resource you can use to discover new places to enjoy your favorite activities. Explore the last stands of primeval redwood forests to vast expanses of fragile desert; the lofty Sierra Nevada to the broad sandy beaches of our southern coast; all from your pocket. The California Department of Parks and Recreation manages more than 270 parks, which contain the finest and most diverse collection of natural, cultural and recreational resources to be found within California.

State park units include underwater preserves, reserves, and parks; redwood, rhododendron, and wildlife reserves; state beaches, recreation areas, wilderness areas, and reservoirs; state historic parks, historic homes, Spanish era adobe buildings, including museums, visitor centers, cultural reserves, and preserves; as well as lighthouses, ghost towns, water-slides, conference centers, and off-highway vehicle parks. These parks protect and preserve an unparalleled collection of culturally and environmentally sensitive structures and habitats, threatened plant and animal species, ancient Native American sites, historic structures and artifacts . . . the best of California's natural and cultural history.

Responsible for almost one-third of California's scenic coastline, California State Parks manages the state's finest coastal wetlands, estuaries, beaches, and dune systems. The parks consist of nearly 1.4 million acres, with over 280 miles of coastline; 625 miles of lake and river frontage; nearly 15,000 campsites; and 3,000 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails.

California Parks, the application for iPhone and iPod touch, includes park description, location, activities, operation hours, and contact information. Use the app to search for favorite activities, find the best park, preview photographs, find current weather conditions, pinpoint the location on a map, and plan the trip. While at the park, users can snap a photo or two right on their device (if available) and submit the photo(s) to be included for everyone else to enjoy while planning their next trip. There are treasures around every corner, and thanks to this app, they're in your pocket now too!

Pricing and Availability:
California Parks 1.1 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Travel category.
