I am far from a pro at this but I have managed to jailbreak my ipod touches (32G and 64G) 3.1.3 since spirit first launched months ago. I get WiFI everywhere except my home computer, a MAC that I set up with ad-hoc wifi. Non jailbroken devices work just fine but both of my devices can't seem to connect despite saying they are connected. I have gone through countless forums seeking a solution. I've tried most simple solutions as well as tinkering around with DHCP, Static entry and passcode resets. Nothing works. Please provide a how to in easy to understand terms. Thanks

Hi there, I've been running 3.1.2 on a iPhone 3G with modem baseband 5.11.07 for a while. i am thinking about attempting a JB and Unlock on it ASAP because the phone is running very slow at the moment(8 Pages of APPS). I used Spirit for mac to jailbreak my friend's G2 3.1.3 phone and it worked like a charm. I can now use my ATT sim card to make calls. BUT, the phone doesnt let me access my voice mailbox. I set it up with password and greeting as asked, then save but it says "voicemail unavailable, unable to connect". The question: why is it doing that AND if I now "unlock" the phone, will it be 100% usable with my ATT sim? Any help appreciate : ) tx!

the Spirit file is for mac not Windows !! and it`s safe to use it with 3,1,2 \ 3,1,3 or i have to connect the iPhone to the computer each time i wish to restart the device

It IS for Windows. I today jailbroken my 3GS 3.1.3 (new bootrom) without any problems. It toke only 10 seconds to jailbreak it :)

it seems to me that this is for Mac only. How did you start this program on Windows. I can't.

go to http://spiritjb.com/ and download WIndows version. I did it, and in a minute succesfully made JB on 3GS 3.1.3 with new bootroom. Than throught Cydia installed ultrasn0w and unlock the phone. Works great. Great thanks to people who provided spirit. I am going to make a small donation and wait for 4.0 jailbreak.

You MUST have a valid SIM card in order to activate it. no other way around it :(

It seems you downloaded the version for MAC. I got that same problem too, so I found a version for Windows and it had an .exe :)

first I tried it got stuck on spirit reboot for 15 minutes so I gave up and had to restore. I read the comments and tried again. this time I disconnected the phone when it said "quit", and it worked! Thanx y'all ! I have a 3GS with 3.1.3 and a mac mini with SL

I'm using an iPhone 3GS running 3.1.3 and I can't get this to work somehow!!!! Whenever I open the Spirit program, the "Jailbreak" button has the little spinning line-wheel thing on it and when I click it, it says "Jailbreaking..." and the line-wheel starts spinning and my phone says "Restore in PRogress" and it never changes. I left it on this stage for 15 minutes before quitting the program, and then my phone turns back on un-jailbroken. I've downloaded the program from various sites and still no change, I'm gonna try to restore and try again. Please help me!!!!

I can confirm that the posts from therm4teacher & Shelby GT500e worked for me as well on a 3GS with 3.1.3. Once the Spirit confirmation "Quit, Jailbreak Complete!" pops up, I had to unplug the iPhone to get it working. My iPhone 3GS was frozen after unlocking on 3.1.3. I now tried to use Spirit but it is now worse. It is frozen at the apple logo. Prior to this I could use it as an iTouch, but now it cannot do anything except be frozen at the apple logo step. Please advise. Thanks,

Connect your Iphone to your mac and open itunes, than press the center and lock button at the same time for a few seconds than release the lock button and keep pressing the center button for another 10 sec or more. Itunes will recognize your iphone and you can restore it.

If you upgrade to 3.1.3 you can jailbreak but youwill lose your unlock,due to the change in modem firmware

Spirit didn't work for me the first time I tried this - it froze at the at the last stage . However after a clean restore (ie restore without a backup), everything worked fine.

Was thinking in updating to 3.1.3 to try to get free from having to initiate blackrain everytime the phone goes down (and all the tethered problem). Where is the week nr? is the FCC ID the serial nr (want to check if mine was made before week 40)? thanks for any reply if possible.

it will work with everything, but ur ganna have to restore your iphone to get rid of blackrain. then jailbreak it with spirit. i just finished jailbreaking my friends new i phone and also my 3gs.

I have a 3G S 32GB, was unlocked with Blackrain but every time I turned off the phone it was going to the recovery mode (USB to iTunes picture) decided to use Spirit to fix the problem, it went all the way to the end but frozen again, keeps going to the recovery mode, tried Blackrain after but no luck, keeps rebooting with George Hotz picture on it. Can't try Spirit again because its not in the standard spring board anymore. PLEASE HELP, I can't restore because I will lose the UNLOCK. Ryan

My story is SPIRT did not work for me at first, deleted all my photos and froze the first few times i tried it......Today I saw the updated spirit and tried again. It took all of of 3-4 minutes and works great so far. I'm using a OTB 3.13 received from apple (as a replacement) i got in March 2010. Thanks JB community!!!!!!!!! No I'm off to donate .

Try to reset the network settings. In settings, general, reset, reset network settings. Hope this helps.

...if you have ultrasnow or any such on your sys you will have to delete to make spirit work. worked for me.
