DDH Software has announced the launch of the iPad version of HanDBase, the legendary mobile database application. It is available now through iTunes in the AppStore. HanDBase, a longtime favorite on nearly every other major mobile platform - including the iPhone - has been tailored to take advantage of the unique characteristics of the iPad.

Special features of the iPad version of HanDBase include split screen views, popovers, and enhanced editing. Like the iPhone version, there is also integration with the popular HanDBase Gallery of thousands of database designs, plus the ability to email records and databases to other users.

Desktop versions for both Windows and Mac users are available separately at DDH Software, but the iPad version comes with a feature called "Desktop Connect" that enables users to access databases wirelessly through any browser via the iPad's WiFi connectivity. This feature lets users load and save HanDBase files to and from their desktops and import/export CSV files for transfer from/to other desktop applications.

Additionally, the iPad version offers the unique ability to install and backup databases via iTunes cable-sync and can even install and/or merge databases received via email directly into HanDBase for iPad. As with other versions of HanDBase, the iPad application allows users to create and edit fully relational databases on the device and includes features long-enjoyed by users: custom views, filters, sorting, reports with graphs and charting, and advanced searches, among others.

A portable device used for business and sensitive personal data lends itself to a need for strong security. HanDBase is once again in the lead with its tight, yet easy-to-manage security measures including field level encryption and the ability to lock down certain functions within a database. HanDBase also affords two-way record level syncing even while the database record data is encrypted.

For users who want more capabilities - such as two-way synchronization or the ability to import and edit databases on their desktop, DDH Software is selling separate add-on packages for Mac and Windows. On the Windows side, some versions even offer direct syncing to popular third party database applications like Microsoft Access, Filemaker Pro, and more.

"For over 18 months, HanDBase has enjoyed consistent praise on the iPhone platform for its ability to deliver the functionality required for a sophisticated database solution, yet keeping it intuitive enough for anyone to use to create databases and lists to organize their life,"
said Dave Haupert, president of DDH Software. "We're delighted to expand on all that the iPhone version offers and deliver a version optimized for the big screen and unique features of the iPad."

Pricing and Availability:
HanDBase for iPad 4.6.0 is available now in the App Store for an introductory price of $9.99 (USD). Optional desktop companions and packages for Windows and Mac computers are available starting at $9.99.
