Apple TV has officially renewed the acclaimed thriller "Down Cemetery Road" for a second season, bringing stars Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson back for another mystery. The announcement follows the finale of the first season, confirming that the adaptation of Mick Herron's CWA Diamond Dagger Award-winning novel series will continue.
The series is produced by 60Forty Films and written by Morwenna Banks, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Thompson and Herron. It marks the second major collaboration between the author and the streaming platform, following the success of the spy drama Slow Horses, which Apple executives recently highlighted as a key part of their long-term content strategy.
Season two will reunite Zoë Boehm (Thompson) and Sarah Trafford (Wilson) as they investigate a incident where a woman falls in front of a train. While initially appearing straightforward, the case upends their lives and pulls them into the dangerous world of black market antiquities. The investigation eventually places them in the path of a serial killer determined to keep their crimes hidden.
Emma Thompson expressed enthusiasm about the renewal, noting her excitement to work with Banks and Wilson again. "The thought of working with the team again, with wonderful Morwenna Banks in the writer's seat and the indomitable Ruth Wilson... is frankly far more than I feel I deserve," Thompson said.
The first season is currently streaming on the service, which was recently rebranded to Apple TV.
