After i have downloaded the ipsw file then what should i do to update via itunes should i press the shift+update button or shift+restore button. I want to update to 6.0.1

Before updating you should first backup your device.
For a clean restore (before applying a jailbreak) you should hold Option and click Restore. If you are using Windows hold the Shift key instead of Option.
