If you are not currently jailbroken, can you backup SHSH Blobs?

Got a 4s. Not currently Jailbroken (was once and I had a heck of a time reverting). Can I backup my 5.1.1 Blobs on a stock OS or does the device have to be jailbroken?

You do not need to jailbreak to save your SHSH Blobs. See the tutorials listed here: www.iclarified.com/24537/save-your-shsh-blobs-for-ios-511-important.
Unfortunately, being on a 4S means you can't downgrade from iOS 6 at this point, even with those blobs.
