Ignore my last post - I've made progress, gotten past Step 4 and am now on Step 6. However, when I input "cd/bin" after "Iphone:~ root#", I'm getting a response "No such file or directory". Thanks.
BethT - June 11, 2009 at 2:27pm
Attn: Zero or anyone who can help! I'm having that same problem others have after Step 4 getting the message "File Not Found", yet BBUpdaterExtreme is on my desktop and SSH is active on my iPhone. How can I use Cyberduck to try and make this work? I've never used an FTP or SSH program before. Thanks.

This is my iPhone Bootloader Ver. ICE2_BOOT_05.09_G2M3S2, will the BBDown work?
anna - May 5, 2009 at 1:47am
for step 4, whether to use iphone IP address or desktop IP address? cuz' when it comes to the iphone's # thing, it shows no file exists
Zero - May 5, 2009 at 10:04am
Actually you always have to use the iPhone's ip address. Stupid question... Is SSH turned on on your iPhone??. You can also try all this by using cyberduck :)
anna - May 5, 2009 at 12:39pm
nvm, i got it... mine's on the 5.09, sigh
anna - May 5, 2009 at 1:33am
i tried but it always says no file exists...
anna - May 5, 2009 at 12:38am
whatif the IP address of iPhone and desktop is different, can i still check the bootloader?
Zero - May 5, 2009 at 12:59am
The IP addresses must be different of course but they have to be on the same network range.... For example the iPhone ip on my network is and my Mac is the As long as the first three octets are the same (192.168.0) you are good to go. If in any case this doesn't match it meams that you are connected to a different network or you are connected to an access point with a different IP range settings and you have to change that. Hope it helps :) Cheers Zero

nicholoas - April 26, 2009 at 9:06pm
After I type in the password alpine, I keep getting /var/mobile/Desktop/BBUpdaterExtreme: No sch file or directory Is there a way to fix this ?
Zero - May 3, 2009 at 7:12pm

nicholas - May 3, 2009 at 8:54pm

Zero - May 3, 2009 at 9:59pm
Try copying and pasting into the terminal window... if that doesn't happen, use cyberduck to send the file into the specified folder and then set the permissions in the BB app
tnt - April 19, 2009 at 7:10am
it doesn't work. any help?
hal - April 19, 2009 at 2:58am
Im having trouble after entering the command in step 3. after i type in alpine as the password, it says no such file exists. Anyone know what to do?
Zero - May 3, 2009 at 7:16pm
You could do it using Cyberduck or WinSCP Te only thing the first steps does are to copy the BBUpdaterExtreme to the bin folder and then give a 755 permissions to the program.
jenya - April 17, 2009 at 1:59am
Nissy, Did you solve your problem? I also got 6.02 and can not find any proper answer. Thanks
Crowles - April 16, 2009 at 6:13pm
I get as far as the shuting down the services and then this launchctl: Couldn't stat("/System/Libary/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist"): No such file or directory nothing found to unload iPhone:/bin root# So still can't check the boot loader version Any help please thanks
crowles - April 16, 2009 at 6:43pm
Sorted now, but not on 5.8, on 6.02
francochelsea - April 21, 2009 at 10:05pm
how did you manage? I still get no such file/directory exists!
nissy - April 15, 2009 at 5:03pm
I just had my iphone 3g exchanged at an apple store which was yellowsn0wed but the one that they gave me is with bl 6.02. what does this mean for a potential unlock in future?
Arif - April 15, 2009 at 4:15pm
I get scp ~/Desktop/BBUpdaterExtreme root@ The authenticity of host ' (' can't be established. RSA key fingerprint is 6a:94:1d:ba:eb:2c:d4:1b:8f:f3:43:c6:04:2a:ea:b0. Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? Help please
Zero - April 15, 2009 at 9:38pm
Just press Yes. That happens if you are connecting your iPhone for the first time through ssh :) Cheers
Arif - April 16, 2009 at 12:50pm
THANKS! BTW do you know how to disable that low battery logo on iPhone? The one that shows the red battery with the lighting bolt point to the outlet. Whenever I get that, I drop signal with T-Mobile.
Zero - April 16, 2009 at 1:32pm
Not a clue, but i think the iPhone could be on a power saving function (since you are running out of battery) that cause the signal drop. It has some sense to me :)
Arif - April 16, 2009 at 6:01pm
hmm.. it does make sense when its below 5% but I get that below 30%. I can probably use the phone for an hour+
Arif - April 15, 2009 at 3:54pm
What happens if 5.8 bootloader is on 2.2.1, 02.30.03?
Nathaniel - April 16, 2009 at 2:00pm
Then you follow the new baseband downgrade tutorial to get to the 2.28 baseband which can be unlocked with yellowsn0w
