Apple and the Sydney Opera House are teaming up on a yearlong collaboration designed to support Australian creativity through new art, design, and culture initiatives, with a particular focus on young people and hands-on participation.

The collaboration will include programming within the Opera House's Centre for Creativity, support for a new international children's festival later this year, and exploration of new ways technology can enhance Opera House experiences. Apple said the initiative is meant to champion the next generation of creativity while connecting the public with Australian art and design in new ways.

To launch the partnership, a newly commissioned artwork called Illuminating Creativity will transform the eastern Bennelong sails of the Sydney Opera House from March 25 through March 27. The projection will feature original static and moving-image works created in Procreate on iPad by 10 emerging Australian artists.

Apple is also inviting the public to take part. From March 9 through March 15, Apple Store locations across Australia will host free Today at Apple sessions where participants can create digital artwork on iPad and submit it for possible inclusion in the final projection. Selected works from both commissioned artists and public submissions will be shown at 8:30 p.m. on March 25, and at 8:00 p.m. on March 26 and March 27.

Sydney Opera House CEO Louise Herron AM said the partnership is a natural fit between two organizations closely associated with creativity, and that Apple's support will help the Opera House inspire and welcome more of the community in line with its ambition to be "Everyone's House."

Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak said the collaboration reflects Apple's long history of empowering creativity through its tools. He described the project as a celebration of that legacy, bringing together Australian artists and the creative potential of iPad and Procreate.

Procreate, developed by Tasmanian company Savage Interactive, is central to the initiative. Apple said the app has grown into a leading digital art and illustration platform for iPad and iPhone globally. Procreate CEO James Cuda said the project highlights a shared commitment to making powerful creative tools accessible to everyone, from beginners to professionals.

One of the participating artists, Perth-based illustrator Rebecca Mills, said discovering Procreate through a Today at Apple session helped reshape her creative practice. Apple noted that her career has since expanded into exhibitions, children's books, prints, puzzles, packaging, and murals.
