Apple TV has released the official trailer for the fifth season of its acclaimed comedy series "Trying." Starring Esther Smith and Rafe Spall, the eight-episode season will make its global debut on Wednesday, July 8.
The upcoming season picks up as Nikki and Jason navigate the unexpected arrival of Kat, the biological mother of their adopted children Princess and Tyler. Her sudden appearance on their doorstep disrupts the stability the couple has worked to build, introducing a new wave of chaos to their household.
Returning alongside Smith and Spall are ensemble cast members Darren Boyd, Siân Brooke, Celia Imrie, Phil Davis, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Colin Morgan. The series is created, written, and executive produced by Andy Wolton, with production handled by BBC Studios.
Music continues to play a central role in the show's identity. Irish artist and producer Orla Gartland helms the soundtrack for season five, debuting original songs in each episode. Her upcoming single, "At The End Of The Day," is prominently featured in the new trailer. The series returns amidst a crowded summer comedy slate for the streaming platform, arriving just a few weeks ahead of the fourth season of Ted Lasso.
Following the initial first look provided earlier this spring, Apple confirmed the new season will launch with a single episode on premiere day. The remaining episodes will roll out weekly every Wednesday through August 26. The first four seasons are currently available to stream.
