Apple has released the third AirPods beta firmware for developers, bringing build 9A5314b to AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2.
The update replaces the previous developer beta (9A5304b) released in late June and arrives one day after Apple seeded iOS 27 beta 3.
The release continues testing several AirPods features introduced alongside iOS 27, including a redesigned AirPods settings interface, an Adaptive mode slider, custom EQ controls, and compatibility with Apple's new Siri AI experience. AirPods Max 2 is once again included in the beta program, with iOS 27 allowing Apple's over-ear headphones to install and run beta firmware updates.
Developers can enable AirPods Beta Updates from the Bluetooth settings for paired AirPods on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running the latest iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 developer beta. Firmware installs automatically while the AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of the paired device. Apple notes that beta firmware cannot be downgraded to an earlier public release, and devices will remain on the beta track until a newer public firmware version becomes available.
