Apple is preparing to refresh its iPad stylus lineup with two new Apple Pencil models currently in development. The accessories are expected to arrive in the first half of 2027 alongside updated iPad Pro models.
The refresh updates both ends of Apple's stylus lineup. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is developing an updated version of the Apple Pencil with USB-C alongside a refreshed Apple Pencil Pro.
The B582 model is described as an updated version of the Apple Pencil with USB-C, introduced in 2023 and currently available for $71 on Amazon, down from its $79 list price. The B632 model is expected to refresh the Apple Pencil Pro, which debuted alongside the M4 iPad Pro in 2024 and is currently on sale for $99, down from its regular $129 price.
Specific feature changes have not yet been revealed. Gurman says Apple is also working to comply with upcoming European Union requirements intended to make batteries in consumer electronics easier to replace. He suggests the new Apple Pencil models could feature redesigned battery systems.
Current and previous Apple Pencil models are heavily glued together and difficult to repair. Apple has traditionally introduced new Apple Pencil models alongside major iPad updates, making the reported timing consistent with past launches.
