Apple has increased subscription prices for Apple Music in the United States and several other countries, while also raising the cost of select Apple One bundles.

In the U.S., the Individual plan now costs $11.99 per month, up from $10.99. The Family plan now costs $19.99 per month, up from $16.99, while the Student plan now costs $6.99 per month, up from $5.99. The new prices appeared on Apple's website without an accompanying press release.

Apple One pricing has also changed. The Individual tier remains $19.95 per month, while the Family plan now costs $27.95, up from $25.95, and the Premier plan is now $39.95, up from $37.95.

Apple attributed the increase to rising licensing costs in a statement provided to Music Business Worldwide. "As a result of rising licensing costs, Apple Music is increasing its subscription price beginning today," the company said.

Prices are also rising internationally. In the United Kingdom, the Individual plan now costs £11.99, up from £10.99, and the Family plan costs £19.99, up from £16.99. In European markets, the Individual plan now costs €11.99, up from €10.99, the Family plan costs €19.99, up from €16.99, and the Student plan costs €6.99, up from €5.99. Music Business Worldwide reports that the increases are also rolling out across additional markets.

New subscribers will pay the updated prices immediately, while existing subscribers are expected to move to the new rates after being notified by Apple.

This marks the first Apple Music price increase in the U.S. since October 2022, when the Individual plan went from $9.99 to $10.99. The increase follows Spotify's own subscription price adjustment earlier this year, which brought its U.S. Individual plan to $12.99 per month. Apple Music's new $11.99 price remains $1 below Spotify's.

Apple’s greed is out of control. When they increased hardware prices they blamed RAM prices. However this price increase has nothing to do with anything but gouging customers for profit $1 at a time. Steve Jobs would not be proud of what Tim Apple has done.
