iPhone 20 Curved Glass to Reuse iPhone Air Manufacturing Process [Rumor]

Apple may be planning to build its 20th-anniversary iPhone using a modified version of the glass manufacturing process developed for the iPhone Air. A new post on Weibo claims the equipment used for the iPhone Air has been adapted to produce more rounded glass components for the 2027 device. According to the post, the changes have also reduced manufacturing costs while significantly improving heat dissipation and thinness.



The latest rumor expands on earlier claims that Apple's supply chain has been preparing for production of the redesigned model, with one facility reportedly renovated to support manufacturing techniques comparable to those used for the first-generation iPhone Air. Apple's thinnest iPhone to date measures 5.6mm thick and pairs a polished titanium frame with a glass back.


The anniversary iPhone has long been rumored to feature a major glass-centric redesign. Previous reports have pointed to curved glass wrapping around the sides of the device, while a micro-curved, polarizer-less display could help create a nearly bezel-free appearance.
