Watch Apple's 'The New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra' Video

Apple has shared a new introductory video for Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra, presenting the compact desktop as a system built for demanding creative work and on-device AI.

The 80-second video focuses on the new chip options and their AI performance. Mac Studio with M5 Max features an 18-core CPU, a GPU configurable with up to 40 cores, and support for up to 128GB of unified memory. The M5 Ultra model scales to a 36-core CPU, an 80-core GPU, and up to 512GB of unified memory with 1.2TB/s of memory bandwidth. Apple says M5 Ultra delivers up to 4.3 times the peak AI compute performance of M3 Ultra.


The new Mac Studio also adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while Thunderbolt 5 can be used to cluster multiple systems for distributed AI workloads. Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at $2,499, and the M5 Ultra model starts at $5,499. Preorders are open now ahead of availability on September 22, while the 512GB configuration is scheduled for late October.
