Meta Launches Muse, a Personal AI Agent That Handles Everyday Tasks

Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI agent designed to handle everyday tasks including sending emails, shopping online, and planning trips. The service is rolling out to users in the United States.



Powered by Meta's Muse Spark model, the agent can work across connected services, browse websites, fill out forms, make bookings and purchases, and continue working after the app is closed. Users choose which services to connect and how much access Muse receives, while sensitive actions such as sending an email or completing a transaction require approval.


Long-running projects appear in a Goals tab, where Muse can develop a plan and track its progress. The agent can also create documents, PDFs, and interactive dashboards through Artifacts and surface proactive suggestions in an Ideas tab.


Meta gives several examples of how Muse can work across a longer task. It can turn a saved Instagram recipe into a grocery list, remember guests' dietary restrictions while planning a dinner, negotiate a bill, or adjust a training plan as the user's schedule changes.



Each Muse operates inside a dedicated cloud computer called Muse Secure VM. A separate Sentinel agent reviews anything the assistant sends to the internet, while credentials are stored so Muse can use them without seeing passwords or payment information. Access can be revoked at any time, and the app provides an audit trail of completed and planned activity. Meta also allows people to opt out of AI training and says conversations and virtual-machine data are not shared with its advertising systems.

Purchases use Link by Stripe, which generates a one-time-use card and provides protections for eligible purchases. Support for Shop Pay and 1Password is planned. Meta says Muse is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for higher usage.



Muse is available through the web at muse.ai, dedicated iOS and Android apps, and chats in WhatsApp. The iPhone app requires iOS 18 or later, and the service is limited to people 18 and older. Support for Meta's AI glasses is coming soon. Later this year, Meta plans to introduce Muse Confidential VM, which it says will encrypt the virtual machine with a user-held key so even the company cannot access its contents.
