Meta has officially launched its newest line of wearable technology in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. The new display-free smart glasses, simply called Meta Glasses, start at $299 and are available to purchase today in 17 countries.
The glasses are the first AI eyewear to launch with Meta AI powered by Muse Spark from day one. A dedicated action button on the frame allows users to quickly invoke the multimodal AI to ask questions about their physical surroundings, check sports scores, or help manage calendars and daily schedules. Meta says the updated assistant can better understand what the wearer is looking at and provide contextual information hands-free. The same artificial intelligence technology is also rolling out to existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in the United States and Canada.
To broaden the appeal of the hardware, Meta is offering 26 distinct color and lens combinations across three frame styles. The Adventurer provides a classic rectangular look in two sizes, while the Fury offers a thicker, bolder silhouette. The company also worked with Kylie Jenner on a slim oval frame inspired by her personal style. Customers can choose from frame colors like Racing Green, Merlot, and Sandstone, pairing them with clear, sun, polarized, or transition lenses.
The internal hardware focuses on seamless utility. Open-ear speakers allow for music and podcast playback without obstructing environmental sounds. An advanced multi-microphone array incorporates wind noise reduction to keep voice commands and phone calls clear. Wearers can also capture photos and videos hands-free.
Battery life is rated at over eight hours of continuous use. The glasses ship with a foldable charging case that provides up to 40 hours of additional power while on the go. Alongside the new frames, Meta introduced a standalone charging stand that is compatible with most of Meta's display-free AI glasses.
Additional features are already on the way through upcoming software updates. This month, the company is introducing dynamic photo, a new feature that automatically captures multiple frames and recommends the best shot while still letting users select their favorite image to share. Pedestrian navigation is also coming soon for display-free glasses, bringing turn-by-turn walking directions directly to the audio interface. Live translation is expanding with support for 14 additional languages, bringing the total to 20 supported languages.
The glasses are available starting today at Meta's online store, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, and Sunglass Hut. To make the prescription process easier, the company also introduced its new Rx Lens Swap program, allowing customers to add prescription lenses through their preferred optician after purchase without voiding the hardware warranty.
The launch comes as Apple continues work on its own smart glasses. A recent report said the company is developing acetate-framed eyewear with cameras, microphones, and speakers to support visual intelligence features, with a launch currently targeted for 2027. More details here.
