Ring Unveils Hand-Rechargeable Smart Lock and New 4K Cameras
Ring has unveiled its first smart lock with a hand-powered backup, alongside five new security cameras. The additions include four 4K models and a 2K pan-tilt camera with automatic motion tracking.

Smart Lock
With the Ring Smart Lock, turning a built-in power dial a few times restores enough power to unlock the door if the battery runs out, without a physical backup key.
Entry is available through a fingerprint reader, a backlit touchscreen keypad, the Ring app, or Alexa. The app also supports remote locking and scheduled access that expires, allowing guests to enter only during specified times.
Remote features use Amazon Sidewalk, a shared network powered by nearby Amazon devices, rather than home Wi-Fi. Coverage varies by location. The lock fits a standard single-cylinder deadbolt without additional wiring and integrates with Ring doorbells, cameras, and alarms, plus Echo and Alexa.

U.S. availability is planned for early 2027 in black, silver, and brass. The lock is still awaiting FCC authorization before it can be offered for sale.
New Cameras

The four 4K models use Retinal Vision technology, with wide-angle views and color video in low light.
Outdoor Cam 4K Plus offers battery, plug-in, hardwired, solar, and Power over Ethernet configurations.

Spotlight Cam 4K Plus adds a 550-lumen light, with battery, plug-in, and solar options. Floodlight Cam 4K Plus pairs floodlights with support for 24/7 recording and smart detection.
Indoor Cam 4K is the company's first indoor 4K camera. It has a 115-degree field of view, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and a physical privacy shutter.
For a view that follows movement, the Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K provides 360-degree pan coverage, 175-degree tilt, and computer vision-based motion detection. Closing its shutter disables both the camera and microphone.

Both indoor cameras are available now on Amazon, while the three outdoor models are up for preorder in the U.S. and other markets, including Canada and the UK.
Apple is reportedly working with LG on smart home accessories, including a lock, doorbell, thermostat, and security cameras. The LG-branded devices would work with an upcoming Apple home hub and updated HomePod mini and Apple TV models. Leaked renders shared earlier today show the lock, thermostat, and temperature sensor, though consumer availability is still expected to be at least a few months away.
