Apple Introduces HomeView Smart Display With Siri AI for $299

Apple has introduced HomeView, a smart home display with a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, Siri AI, and FaceTime calling. Available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, the new device recognizes members of a household and switches to their personal apps and widgets.

Design and Display

The tabletop model combines an aluminum body with a domed speaker base and a stainless steel hinge that lets the screen tilt. It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, with a matching USB-C cable. The separate wall-mounted model is offered in silver and space gray and has the same display and features.

True Tone adjusts the screen to ambient lighting, while automatic brightness ranges from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits. The interface also changes with viewing distance, presenting simpler information from across the room and more detail as someone approaches.

Personal Profiles and Siri AI

Facial recognition supports up to six people, each with their own Home Screen. Shared albums and music remain available to the household and guests, while personal content in apps such as Messages and Calendar is protected by face recognition and security checks involving the user's paired iPhone or iPad. Setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software.

Siri AI is available in beta in HomeView software 27.2, with conversational responses, general knowledge, onscreen awareness, and music discovery. Those general capabilities work even without an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Access to personal information and actions across apps, however, requires a paired Apple Intelligence-capable device running the latest software, with Siri AI enabled in a supported language.

With that pairing, the assistant can draw on Messages, Calendar, and Apple Music playlists to answer personal requests. Conversations sync through iCloud to the Siri app, allowing users to continue them on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or Vision Pro. Some features that use server-side models have daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will carry a fee in the future.

English-language Siri AI support covers the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Canadian French will follow in a free software update.

Outside the app interface, display faces include Photos with portrait-style depth effects and shared albums, Flow animations that respond to movement, and Snoopy animations tied to the time, weather, sporting events, and holidays.

Audio, Entertainment, and Calls

For audio, the tabletop version uses two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators in the base. It supports Spatial Audio and uses computational audio to adjust loudness and bass response. The wall-mounted version instead has two custom drivers and audio tuning for on-wall placement.

Apple Music can display animated album art and lyrics, alongside access to Podcasts, Apple TV, and compatible third-party audio and video apps. Apple News is available in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the U.S.; some apps require a compatible paired iPhone nearby. Bringing an iPhone in front of the display transfers music with Handoff, while multiroom playback works with other HomeView devices, HomePods, HomePod minis, and AirPlay speakers.

FaceTime includes Center Stage to keep participants in view as they move around, and Messages supports voice replies or an onscreen keyboard. Intercom can reach one room or the whole home through other HomeView and HomePod devices, as well as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

In the kitchen, web recipes can become step-by-step instructions with ingredient tracking and hands-free timers. Find My shows locations shared by family members and helps locate an iPhone, an AirPods charging case, or an item with an AirTag. Live Activities surface information such as current music, timers, and incoming Intercom messages.

Home Controls and Privacy

Touch controls and Siri can manage compatible lights, thermostats, locks, and blinds. The Home Modular face provides accessory shortcuts, while Home Camera can show up to nine live camera feeds at once. Supported iCloud+ plans and compatible cameras add recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles.

HomeKit Secure Video summaries and natural-language recording searches require setup with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan; the number of cameras supported for some AI features depends on the plan. Sound detection can also send alerts to an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch when a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm goes off.

Accessory support includes Matter, Works with Apple Home, and the new Apple Home Collection developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. That collection begins arriving in December, with select accessories following in early 2027.

Inside HomeView, the A18 chip uses Secure Exclaves to isolate camera and microphone processing from the rest of the system. Siri requests can be processed on the device or through Private Cloud Compute, where Apple says the data is not retained or accessible to the company.

Pricing and Availability

Both HomeView models cost $299 in the U.S. Pre-orders open today, October 13, in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S., with availability beginning Friday, November 13. Singapore pre-orders start October 15 at 9 a.m. SGT. South African customers will be able to pre-order through Apple Authorized Resellers, with the same November 13 availability date.

Schneider Home's wall mounts are sold separately. The Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector starts at $59.95 and the Power Mount AC Wired at $79.95, with orders opening today. A $129.95 Power Mount PoE Wired option is due in early 2027.

HomeView will not be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
