iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Open Tomorrow at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET

Apple will open iPhone Duo pre-orders tomorrow, Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. ET through its website and the Apple Store app. Customers can prepare their order now by choosing a configuration, arranging a trade-in, and securing leasing or financing pre-approval.

Those selections need to be saved to the shopping bag before 9 p.m. PT tonight, October 15, equivalent to midnight ET as October 16 begins. Apple says completing that preparation allows customers to check out with a single click when ordering opens.

The foldable iPhone starts at $1,999 in the U.S., with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options in star white and night sky. Orders through Apple open in more than 70 countries and regions, including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, China, and Japan, with availability beginning October 23. Another 28 countries and regions follow on October 30. Delivery and Apple Store pickup options will be available.

Trade-Ins, Leasing, and Financing

In the U.S., Apple Trade In offers $175 to $885 in instant credit for eligible iPhone 13 or newer devices, with the amount depending on model, condition, and configuration. That credit can reduce payments through Apple Upgrade, Apple Card Monthly Installments, or eligible carrier offers.

Apple Upgrade, provided by Klarna, offers 12- and 24-month consumer leases, with iPhone Duo starting at $57.99 per month for a 24-month term before taxes and any trade-in credit. This is a lease rather than an installment purchase: at the end of the term, eligible customers can upgrade, make a one-time payment to buy the phone, or return it and leave the program. Approval and eligible-carrier requirements apply, and ending a lease early may incur a substantial charge.

Carrier promotions through Apple offer up to $1,200 in credit with an eligible iPhone 14 Pro Max or newer trade-in, with activation available on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Qualification depends on the carrier, plan, and trade-in; for AT&T's offer, credits are spread over 36 months and stop if qualifying service is canceled.

Apple Card customers can instead use Monthly Installments at 0 percent APR and receive 3 percent Daily Cash upfront, subject to credit approval and applicable limits. For the base model, Apple's listed installment payment is $83.29 per month over 24 months.

Foldable Display and Cameras

The A20 Pro-powered phone has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, with separate batteries on each side operating together. Apple says the inner screen offers 50 percent more display area than iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the outer screen provides 90 percent of iPhone 18 Pro's screen area.

iOS 27 adapts as the device folds, rotates, or switches displays. Split View places two apps side by side, including the option to keep Siri AI open alongside another app. StandBy works on either screen even when the phone is not charging.

Siri AI is rolling out in beta in English, with personal-context and onscreen-awareness features, plus a Siri mode in Camera. It is initially unavailable in the EU on iOS; Siri AI and the other new Apple Intelligence features are unavailable in China. Siri AI is also restricted to users aged 13 or older, and some server-based features have daily usage limits.

The camera system includes 48MP Fusion Main and Ultra Wide cameras, optical-quality 2x zoom from the Main camera, macro photography, a Center Stage front camera, and another FaceTime camera beneath the inner display. The device also carries an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating. More details on features and compatibility are in the iPhone Duo FAQ, alongside the iPhone Duo vs. Pixel 11 Pro Fold comparison.

New Cases

The $129 iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand comes in navy blue and taupe and supports a range of viewing angles. The $79 iPhone Duo Case uses a two-part design that covers both sides of the device and comes in sand and navy blue. Both can be ordered beginning October 16 and are compatible with MagSafe, Qi2 25W, and Qi-certified chargers.
