Comex Demos Frash (Flash) for the iPad [Video]

Posted July 4, 2010 at 8:31am by iClarified
Comex has ported the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPad.

Frash is a port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer, by comex ( http://twitter.com/comex ). Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions) is planned, as well as support for iOS 4.

A release is planned for when Frash is stable. Developers are welcome to join the effort at http://github.com/comex/frash - fork it and send a pull request with your patches

Good to have the posibility of flash but WHY DO YOU NEED FLASH???) if the major content at this moment needs a real keyboard to use it now on the web. So it is neccesary to have flash? if almost the major content is crap to you because you don't have a keyboard. It will be good if the developers uses touch interfaces on their flash content. So for now the iOS is very good without flash. Whe developers update their content for touch enabled devices that would be a good moment to release flash.

Oh boy, Apple sure did a number on you! Do you use flash on you computer? Simple answer: Yes/No?? Your iPhone/iPad/iDevices are ALL computers, and fairly powerful computers too! Wake up. Think for yourself. If you do, you'll smell the Apple spin-machine a mile away.

There's plenty of Flash video still on the web. Nothing to do with keyboard or thumbs.

Excuse me man but I'm a succesfull developer owner of a big really big software company. We develop for Multiple platforms like iOS, android, and Windows. Being windows our flag platform. Yes we use computers a lot but we think that flash is a very unstable an resources consumer that in the short time will die. We think that most content is now available for multiples devices but flash couldn't do that. At this time developers uses flash for "rich content" applicattions. But they need to step forward an thin in HTML5, silverlight and another platforms that will spend less resources, less developing a a lot of user experience. For you men think before saying comments just to deffend or attack a company. How much succesfull are you?? Respect other comments. By far apple portable devices and software are the best for users and developers. And that is a reallity. HTML 5 is the near future. And moves like these from apple will accelerate the transition and adopttion of this GREAT tools.

∧ Bullshit Flash is fantastic development platform if used right. So many abuses flash by not knowing what they do, but so do they when building regular sites too. You can easily go nuts with Flash and not thing of userexperience but that is not the fault of the Flash but the designers and developers doing bad job. HTML5 will surely come along Flash but you will have to wait for LOOOOOOONG time before the penetration, support is broad enough to be option for commercial usage. Now and for long time ahead Flash will be the safest choice for someone who wants to design and build richcontent in Web. Penetration of Flash player in computers is like 98%... how big is HTML-support? Even newest safari scores only like 2/3 of the possible points in HTML5test. So the support is not full even on the most recent browsers - so you do the calculation when the support is wide enough!
