Reuters is reporting that the iPad 2 will have a both front and rear-facing cameras and be slimmer, lighter and have a better resolution display.
Component suppliers for Apple Inc's iPad are gearing up for a new round of production in the first quarter, sources said on Friday, with one saying the product will be a revamp of the popular tablet computer including front- and back-mounted cameras.
Previous reports have also predicted a rear-facing camera. Yesterday a supposed case for the iPad 2 was discovered online. The case has a space for the camera in the upper left hand corner.

I surely hope this is true. A lot of apps use the rear camera for scanning of products, pictures and OCR (text scanning/busness card reading).

I really don't think that Apple will post a rear-facing camera on the next iPad. It doesn't make sense. Who is really going to be taking pictures with such a huge device? I call fake.

My guess is for FaceTime calling.
I do a lot of video conference calling to stay in touch with family and one of the most common things I do is show the person on the other line things I see.
I'm guessing the functionality would work like the iPhone where you can touch a button to switch cameras and then the other person can see what you're looking at. Just my two cents.

That would be my guess as well. Not that important to me though

Why are there so few comments on this site? This is a pretty popular site, isn't it? I check it a few times a day.. It's awesome, or can't I just not see them?
