I think they have stopped this feature because iPhone 5 or 4g whichever one is next would come unlocked. You can either buy the phone from apple and choose your carrier or get it from the carrier at a discounted rate... Just my thought of what I have been thinking.... Let's see if apple does the US the favor of that..

Does anyone know whether paid options available online such as unlockiphone4.com actually can jailbreak+unlock any firmware/baseband as they claim they do? Or are those a scam?
The current untethered jailbreak works well. It works fine with my ipad and iphone4. GPS, safari,skype,bluetooth and WIFI....all working fine. THANKS YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HARD WORK. KEEP UP A GOOD WORK DEV TEAM!!!
They can't jailbreak it or unlock it anymore, al least properly (the current one needs some special SHSH and even so it has lots of bugs) , they said before the 4.2 was released that jaibreak / unlock is ready and in maximum 2 days from official 2.4 release they will release a jailbreak/unlock for this ... but it never happened :) now they claim they have a jaibreak for 4.3 :) that's funny I'm 100% they don't they are just postponing the things ... so that's it for the "jailbreak" story , you'll have to play by apple store "closed" rules from now on :)
I've figured out all this some time ago, so I've sold the my iphone4 (until some "believers" out there are still ready to buy this shit), bought a Nexus S (which I was able to root and unlock next day). The same apps I had on my iphone I could find them on my android phone, so I'm happy with my new phone, it's better than iphone and got rid of the worry of waiting for some "fake" "jailbreaks" that will never come.

False to have tether jailbreak.. the claiming will working on untether jailbreak. then said it will be delay. then said won release after verizion iphone 4 launch.
Unlock false false again.. Honestly, Jailbreak and unlock are no long interest Even I currenlty own all 3 Generation of Iphone 3G, 3GS and 4G. the different between Dev. Team and Gehotz. Dev Team actually talk a lot but work just little. Devteam my suggestion to your team just shut. You done nothing to the community lately. beside talking this and that then false to release it. I like to see thing in action. Not in talking..
Latest BETA worked Fine Here, and I Think will do an Unlock? I'm on iPad, so no need, but Untethered, Jailbroken, Working Fine. Bluetooth GPS works, Skype is Fine.......
Actually, sheriff (unlocker) announced his delay of the unlock after musclenerd (Dev Team - jailbreakers) announced they will stop until the new upgrade comes.
So it doesn't rule out, it's a consequence. The same outcome, it's shit

By the time 4.2.5/4.3 is out, 5.0 will be released. So why release it then when they could wait for 5.0...
Fact is, nobody is paying them for their work (unless maybe now Apple for NOT doing it), but Dev Team got really lazy.
This is why you should buy an iPhone from An APPLE STORE then go to your chosen carrier and buy a simcard and put it into your factory unlocked iphone!! That way no contracts...no locked iPhone!!

They don't have nothing. There are people waiting from October and bought devices hoping that these "Gods" will do anything. They postponed for the community. I'm the community, you are the community. Who's interest it is ?

Yes, it is bad news because we'll have to wait, but in fact is GOOD news! Because this means they already and finally made it and they are just postponing in the best interests of the community. Until this we were only told "we are working".

I guarantee you that something will come up when the last one is released and they are working on it. I saw this coming from a mile away. There will always be one reason or another to postpone it. It's very aggravating. Didn't they say they created a method of jailbreaking and unlocking that couldn't be changed unless they change the hardware? Whatever. I'm not checking this site any longer because I only came here for jailbreak news. Since that won't happen (theoretically) until after 4.3 is released, then what's the point? I know, I know, stop whining and release your own jailbreak. If I could, I would. Peace
THIS AGAIN !!!! - I have to agree with Alex, always more and more reasons to postpone. I actually dont think they have a unlock for 4.2.1 so the easiest thing to say is POSTPONE FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THE COMMUNITY. Why dont they just release it - if they have it - for those who want and eventually get stuck on it (will serve them right). Anyway, it seems that the DevTeam still cant match Apples developers and I dont think they ever will. Yeah yeah tell me about doing it myself. I dont jailbreak or unlock my iphone - i just follow the news and whats happening. SO to the DEV TEAM .... EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES
Actually... this is exactly what they said when the newer baseband after 2.10.04 came out. And guess what? people are still waiting.
This isn't to take away from what they're doing for the community as it's all very much appreciated. But this doesn't mean they have anything yet. Prepare for a longer wait.
