MyWi Gets New OnDemand Feature That Automatically Enables Hotspot

Posted February 3, 2011 at 11:40am by iClarified
MyWi has been updated with a new OnDemand feature that automatically enables hotspot functionality when you need it.

Create an iPad to iPhone connection On Demand! Having to turn on and off a hotspot gets old quickly when you're doing it all the time, as when you share your iPhone's 3G connection with a WiFi-Only iPad. Instead, MyWi OnDemand connects when you need it, and disconnects when you don't. When you leave your WiFi connection at home and you're using the iPad, the iPad will connect automatically. When you turn your iPad screen off, or go back where you have WiFi, MyWi OnDemand will disconnect. After a simple pairing, everything works automatically! Will work with 3G/3GS/4 iPhones/iPod Touches (3.1.2+) and iPad (3.2+). Requires purchase of MyWi 4.0.

Features:
● On Demand connection for an iPod Touch, iPad or iDevice that needs a internet connection
● Set and Forget! Hotspot is always on while not using any more power than just leaving on low-power bluetooth
● Hotspot controls who is able to connect and may "kick" any devices at will.
● Uses much less battery then wifi tethering and uses native routing to minimize battery
● 3-Day Free Trial via Jailbreak your iPhone and install via Cydia!

You can purchase MyWi for $19.99 from the Cydia Store. The OnDemand feature is a $4.99 add-on.

So do you have to buy a copy of MyWi for both the iPhone and iPad? Or did you only need to purchase one license and it will work on both? I know that you have to purchase the On-Demand thing for $4.99, but I didn't know if you have to buy 2 licenses of everything to get it to work.

though same thing when I upgraded my phone and bought the ondemand feature. Then downloaded it for ipad and it says trial license. I emailed company and waiting for a reply, but not way I'm paying $50 to have it on both devices

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to buy the iPad 2 when it comes out and this feature sounds awesome, but not worth paying double for this.

i bought mywi last year and was able to install it on 3 devices without having to purchase any additional licenses. Once you go into cydia and setup your login ID it recognizes that you have already purchased it and allows you to install it again.

Ok, I just didn't know if it was a different program on the iPad, so I didn't know if I'd have to buy a separate license for it.

Here's the reply I got. No, Cydia allows up to 5 devices to use the same purchased licenses. Jailbreak the iPad and open Cydia and go to the app and tap on "Purchase" (you won't have to complete the purchase) then enter your Cydia Login which was used for the purchase on the iPhone and then you will be able to install on the iPad
