Verizon Network is Handling iPhone Traffic Well

Posted February 15, 2011 at 1:18pm by iClarified
Verizon's network is handling the additional of new iPhones very well thus far, according to a report published by web application performance firm Compuware Gomez.

TUAW notes that report found virtually no change - about four-tenths of one percent slower - in page load times since the iPhone's launch on the network.

The firm made measurements of data performance on the Verizon network on the first four official days of iPhone availability -- February 10 - 13. Based on estimates from Wall Street analysts, upwards of 500,000 Verizon iPhones may have been purchased during pre-sales, with another 70,000 - 100,000 users switching from AT&T to Verizon. Compuware Gomez believes that between 500,000 and 700,000 new iPhone users are now using the Verizon network.

It will be interesting to see if Verizon can keep ahead of iPhone traffic as it steadily increases on their network.

I think AT&T signal blows at many place here in Atlanta compared to Verizon but unfortunately with neither phones being on 4G I'll stick with AT&T. Faster 3G and true multitasking. Again Verizon definitely has fewer dropped calls around here but my phone is Jailbroke (unlike theirs), I can yap on the phone and check for a new email (unlike theirs), my bill is cheaper (unlike theirs), and my 3G is just a tad bit faster.... Guess I'm stuck with one drop call every other day---boo hoo

I'm just excited that the Verizon phone finally is out there allowing people to get off the AT&T network. It creates some competition and balances the network load of iPhone users. I have no plans to move to Verizon but am happy to see so many AT&T users go. I will stay on AT&T as long as they can do phone and data at the same time which is a function I use every single day multiple times a day. I have long forgotten the days of having to hang up the phone to find out some information that requires data. At lot of people complain about dropped calls on AT&T but if you switch to EDGE (I almost never do) and have the phone function similar to how Verizon has the phone setup (data or voice separately) with the exception of slightly faster downloads speeds you almost never get a dropped call. The drop calls I believe are due to the phone doing way more then what a PHONE can do and now with the users balanced across two networks, well its just a win/win for iPhone users.

I have both AT&T version (white i4) and Verizon and i am please with both. If AT&T has no service almost certain Verizon will...both carriers has it's perks and benefits and disadvantages! However can't quite judge yet how verizon iPhone's doing because of people waiting on i5, can't switch from AT&T or any other carrier, and just due to the fact that people wanna stay with their Droid/Wackberry devices

my switch from GAYT&T to Verizon was very impressive! faster internet speeds, NO DROPPED CALLS, 4-5 bars everywhere( compared to always 1-4 bars on AT&T).

thats because there wasnt a ONSLAUGHT OF PEOPLE waiting for the iphone and with verizon slowing down ur speeds this is another reason if VERIZON WAS A TRUE FAST powerfull network they could have had facetime over 3g and threw it in att faces but when the phone came out and there was no facetime over 3g i bet a lot of verizon people felt stupid

Okay... First, no data and web surfing. Add to that not as many iPhones on the network, poor sales of the phone, not as big exodus from Att to Verizon and this is a DUH moment in history.

Not big sales??? The fact that you haven't seen long lines is not indication of poor sales. It is indication on a well organized product launch with web pre sales and more. AT&T should learn that!!! verizon reported that iPhone sales was the biggest sales ever on that company. That's good planning and releasing of a product. Next time don't judge on what you see!!! That's why you buy everything that marketing sales to you!!!

This is true. The real test will be over the rest of this year as people won't have to pay early termination fees to switch phones on verizon or switch carriers from Att. As contracts end verizons sales should increase. As you can see with Att they have already changed their rate plans twice. Once a few days before the iPhone launch to increase tethering data and once on iPhones launch day to give unlimited mobile to any mobile minutes. Come July when the iPhone 5 comes out if launched on both networks at the same time, that will tell the true story of what consumers think is the best network for only the hardcore Att livers and ppl in the middle of their two year contract do I for see buying an Att iPhone
