Verizon will end its unlimited data plan for the iPhone as early as this summer, according to Verizon's Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo.
Bloomberg reports that the carrier, which began selling the iPhone last month, now offers a $30 unlimited data plan on the device. Such plans on the handset are "not a long-term solution," Shammo said today at a Morgan Stanley conference in San Francisco.
Verizon is estimated to sell 2 million iPhones this quarter. Shammo noted that 60 percent of devices were purchased online but wouldn't give details on the number sold or on the upcoming tiered data plans.
Those who have signed up for the Verizon iPhone with the unlimited plan will most likely be able to keep the plan at least until their contract expires.
AFTER ALL THE BLA BLA BLA........VERIZON CANT HANDLE THE DATA FLOW...... I CAN HEAR THAT NOW..........WHAT A SHAME THAT AFTER 4G SHOWED IN MOST OF THE NEW DEVICES WITH HI-SPEED 21MB DOWNSTREAM NOW THE DATA IS MEASURED OR CAPPED......KIND OF BIZZAR..........
ha ha ha if verizon can handle the onslaught of iphones why after only 3 short months will they discontinue unlimited data atleast att it took them years to do so. ha so glad im with AT&T grandfathered into unlimited and thank god because i use 7 gigs a month not even tethering either
Apple and it's carriers strike again. "Buy our iPhone or iPad and get unlimited data plan" as soon as we get it in our hands we hear "we are deleting unlimited data plan" isn't owning an iPhone and paying $120 a month to use it enough?
well if you buy an iphone or ipad, while they're advertising unlimited data, you will still have unlimited data even after it's discontinued. so technically, theyre aren't going back on their words or anything.
