BMW Previews New ConnectedDrive System With iPhone Integration [Video]

BMW has offered AutoBlog a preview of their new ConnectedDrive System that integrates with the iPhone and iPod touch.

Like past BMWs, there's an iPhone cradle fitted to the center console that connects with the iDrive system, allowing you to control the standard iPod music functions through an interface that was co-developed by Apple and BMW. Anyone familiar with an iPod will instantly recognize the music control screen, which comes complete with album art, playlist, artist and genre searches, all accessed through an easy-to-use interface controlled through the iDrive knob. Interestingly, all the rendering is done on the iPhone, with the screen simply acting as an external display.

The new ConnectedDrive system will be available on all BMW models beginning next month.

For some reason bmw chose iPhone not android like american army ;) Maybe because best deserves best? ;)

is this only for 2011 model BMW or can also be use in the older model?

the iphone used in the video is with T-Mobile!!!

That is pretty sweet. Now if I only made enough money to own a new 5 series BMW (the car I want bad) I'd be all set ;)
