The iPhone 4 has overtaken the Nikon D90 as the most popular camera on Flickr.

The current top five cameras are:
1. iPhone 4
2. Nikon D90
3. Canon EOS 5D Mark II
4. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi
5. Canon EOS REBEL T1i

This is quite an achievement for the iPhone and it goes to show that the best camera is the one you have with you.

no one wants to carry around a big camera unless they are photographer or hubby. just because ppl uploading pic with iphone doesnt mean iphone is batter then d90. i have d40 and iphone 4 compare picture quality, iphone 4 is wayyyyy behind. even with d40 picture quality day night defrent... i can only imagine the defrent btwn iphone 4 and d90.

is there a difference between most popular vs. most used? I wouldn't say it's the most popular. I bet if asked people would rather see a hi def point and shoot but an iphone is certainly more handy and therefore most used. Use of appropriate words is key to writing good articles.

@madcow, You'd be wrong in saying it's the most used. The article was written based on Flickr's definition, and as such is entirely accurate. Flickr defines the "most popular" category as: "These graphs show the number of Flickr members who have uploaded at least one photo or video with a particular camera on a given day over the last year." Clearly, this isn't a measure of the number of photos each camera has uploaded, nor is it a survey of the cameras users would prefer. You might think "popular" implies preference or desirability, but the widespread definition of the word includes the simple use of "common", even the origin of the word suggests this as it comes from Latin "popularis" meaning "belonging to the people".
