AT&T activated 1.3 million more iPhones than Verizon did in its second quarter, according to the Associated Press.
In its quarterly earnings statement, Verizon revealed that it added 1.26 million wireless subscribers under contract in last quarter, nearly doubling the amount it added a year ago. The company also revealed that it activated 2.3 million iPhones, well below the 3.6 million that AT&T reported for the same period; however, it's worth noting that AT&T also sells the iPhone 3GS for $49.
Verizon says iPhone sales haven't quite been as good as the company expected because they thought a new iPhone model would be released this summer. "We expect it probably sometime in the fall. I think you'll see a significant jump there," McAdam told analysts on a conference call.
Verizon also announced that Chief Operating Officer Lowell McAdam will take over as CEO starting August 1st. He is replacing Ivan Seidenberg as part of succession plan. Seidenberg will remain chairman of the company.

This is due to resellers buying family plans and maxing them out with 5 lines at the discounted contract cost, then canceling their service, therefore ruining their credit fir a quick buck.
Why is this relevant?
AT&T's fraud department is simply oblivious to the fact and is not taking any precautions on the matter.
