Apple Releases First Public Betas of iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and More [Download]

Apple has released the first public betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, tvOS 27, and watchOS 27, giving users an early chance to test the company's next-generation operating systems ahead of their official release this fall.



The new releases focus heavily on artificial intelligence, building on the features Apple previewed at WWDC 2026. At the forefront is Siri AI, which upgrades Siri with a more conversational interface, onscreen awareness, and the ability to draw on personal context. Apple has also expanded Apple Intelligence across its core apps, introducing features such as Spatial Reframing in Photos, automatic tab organization in Safari, and natural language automation in Shortcuts.


For Mac users, macOS 27 Golden Gate brings visual refinements to the Liquid Glass aesthetic. The update adds a new transparency control slider and more uniform toolbars to address readability complaints. Siri AI is integrated directly into Spotlight, and a new dedicated Siri app lets users manage and sync their conversation history across devices.

Access to these new capabilities varies by region. Apple previously confirmed that Siri AI will not be available on iPhone and iPad in the European Union at launch due to interoperability concerns related to the Digital Markets Act, though macOS users in the region will be supported. The features are also currently unavailable in China while Apple navigates local regulatory requirements.

Anyone can enroll in Apple's Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com. Once enrolled, users can download the new public betas over the air through the Software Update menu in the Settings app on their respective devices, with the Apple Watch update requiring the companion Watch app on a paired iPhone.
