A last minute WSJ report says that the next generation iPhone will not support WiMAX or LTE throwing cold water on rumors that Sprint will get exclusive access to the iPhone 5 for its WiMAX network.
According to people familiar with the company's plans, the hotly anticipated device won't operate on long-term evolution or WiMAX fourth-generation networks. Those wireless networks promise speedier downloading to mobile devices of episodes of television programs, as well as cute baby photos.
The people said the device will work on 3G networks, which are broadly in use today and are the standard for the current iPhone 4. AT&T says its HSPA+ network has 4G-like speeds.
Sprint has reportedly agreed to purchase $20 billion worth of iPhones from Apple in a 'bet the company' deal.
I have unlimited data for my iPhone 4 cuz they grandfathered me in from my 3G. So hopefully when the new iPhone 5 comes out they'll do the same thing and let me keep the unlimited data. But I have a feeling I won't know until next year cuz I doubt they are going to release the new iPhone til then.
Feels like the release of the new iphone is going to be a big disappointment; no real innovation at all, just a new camera wippie. Not enough to merit a new upgrade if u have the Iphone 4
It doesnt matter anyway ..nobody has unlimited data these days I missed the unlimited data by couple days with att when I joined I am screwed use wifi 90 % of the time...
Even its capable on LTE or wimax...expect sprint custs...
We all got screwed on data plans
