Cheng, Did I understand correctly, 1.- Just pwn 2.0.2 and then update 2.1 using Itune 8. Are you sure this will not unjailbreak and lock the iphone??

Avi: I've never tried that on a 3G, as the two iPhones we have are 2G on 2.1. I'd say, you wait until someone with 3G experience guides you.

Avi: What do you mean it don't read your SIM? Or do you mean there are no signal bars on your iPhone? If so, follow these steps; Enable WIFI, open Cydia, All Packages, look for BootNeuter, Install, flash by following instructions on this page; http://wikee.iphwn.org/sgold_bootrom:bootneuter. Good to hear that. However, guys who did that Quickpwn2.1's way, they are at 2.1 with cydia and everything is working perfectly now, including the latest bitesms 2.3.

Howard: I did that myself. The process got rid of all 3rd Party packages, Cydia & Installer - App Store remained. Overall, Apple seems to have gone into a lethargic mode by releasing updates just for the heck of it while continuing to ignore basic shortcomings with the iPhone.

Your Windows reader may like to know, even without the availability of WinPwn 2.1, you can still upgrade your iPhone 2G/3G to Firmware 2.1 by doing the following, (1) restore to stock firmware 2.0.2 from iTunes, (2) pwn it using WinPwn 2.0.2, (3) then just UPDATE (not restore) to firmware 2.1 using iTunes 8. It does work because I tried it myself!
