iPhone Has Hidden Matrix Code on Shell?

Using nightshot on a camcorder fsjk85, a user at the Australian Whirlpool forums, discovered a hidden data matrix code on the left side of the iPhone 3G, according to Engadget.

We're guessing that's where Apple imprints the serial and IMEI numbers of each handset since it can't exactly hide them under a removable battery (cough), but we'll leave it to the rest of you to decode this sneaky tag and solve the mystery once and for all.

It's just a 2D barcode, Nokia has used them for ages ...

Symbol / Barcode after decoded says: I was here, in Alien Language :)

you can see S/N and IMEI too at the SIM Card Tray, you guys don't realize that? oh by the way, that matrix code is not new, you can read it yourself with iphone, with program called iMatrix

No, it's not new. And yes, it's DataMatrix.

I believe it's using DataMatrix (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Matrix) not QR-Code.

Thats a QR Code, if you scan it or take a picture of it with an proper device it will give all info printed in the code
