iPad Survives 100,000 Foot Fall From the Edge of Space [Video]

G-Form launched the iPad 100,000 feet into space to test the performance of their 6oz Extreme Edge case.

The company released a hi-def video Thursday where the nearly naked iPad is shown hanging above the Earth in the blackness of space. In the video, the iPad is lifted to over 100,000 feet by a weather balloon which bursts at altitude, then releasing the iPad to free-fall to Earth where it crash lands on a rocky hillside in the Nevada countryside. Whats remarkable is that the iPad survived the adventure, remaining fully functional.

Anyone else watch waiting for someone to pop out and scream? Lol. @ joe it's the extra mass of the gps on the back that caused it to fall that way. But most importantly anyone notice the camera wasn't protected and it survived?

This is a stupid test, it doesn't matter how high you drop it from because after it reaches its terminal velocity it can't go any faster. Also it landed on its back where the gps unit was attached which took the brunt of the fall, thats not to say that this case isn't bad ass for surviving the fall but you could of dropped it off a building and got the same results. Well really, they only did that in the hopes that the video will become viral. Pure marketing ploy, but fun to watch regardless. I did notice the screen is unprotected though...what if it landed face first against a rock?

Well noted. Also, I would have thought that it would be falling thin side down (least resistance and all that), not falling on its back/front even just before it landed? So how come we see it, just before touch down, on its back? (so to speak)
