CutYourSIM is once again offering permanent remote unlocks for the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4S for AT&T devices.
We are proud to offer a permanent unlock solution for your AT&T iPhone. Having your iPhone remotely unlocked will allow you to use your iPhone on any GSM carrier. All you need to do is choose the carrier your iPhone is LOCKED to, provide us with your IMEI number, and purchase this service. We will then permanently unlock your iPhone remotely (usually 5-15 business days. This service works for all AT&T iPhones, the 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4S
In the past, CutYourSIM offered remote unlocks but were forced to shut down their service. Apparently, they managed to find someone to whitelist IMEIs the same way a 'legit' unlock by Apple would be performed. It's thought that Apple managed to figure out how these IMEIs were being whitelisted and put an end to the practice.
CutYourSIM wants $199 for the AT&T iPhone unlock service. You can check out their site at the link below...

Just want to share this. I have an iPhone 4S with Sprint and called them yesterday, told them that I will be going overseas next couple of weeks so I need to unlock my iPhone because I will be using an international sim card. Cust Rep transferred me to International Service dept and was just asked some acct info and the lady took the order and sent it, was told that it could take up to 4 hours. After 15 mins, i popped in my int'l roaming sim card, turned off the iPhone, plugged it in to the computer and launch iTunes, it synced and asked me to activate which i did. After a minute or so, AT&T showed next to the signal bars. I tried couple of different int'l sim cards and both worked. I didn't get the "Congratulations" greeting but the job was done. After half hour or so, my iPhone and iTunes prompted me that there was a small update (forgot what the name of the update). That's it. So if you're with Sprint, you might wanna try to call and ask. Oh, by the way, I was told that the unlock that Sprint did is a permanent unlock. Also, your acct should be in good standing.

$199????? not good... I'll just buy gevey sim...
this will not sell for $199...
I'm paying $199+tax and another $199 for unlock?? I'll just buy Factory-unlocked without contract from Apple instead of this..

I feel sorry for those people who will become a victim of this

It's technically cheaper this way.
In order to buy it unlocked in the US you HAVE to buy WITHOUT a contract. Full price is >$200 than subsidized price. Therefore you save money.
Subsidized +450 = Non contract price. So, you save 250 IF you have a new 2yr commitment handy

$200? That's insane, cost me NOTHING to unlock my O2-UK phone (and it was still in contract). Apple also sell unlocked phones from the UK Apple store. I feel sorry for those in the US.
