Apple has removed a claim that the Mac 'Doesn't Get PC Viruses' from its website, notes PC World.

As you can see in the image below, Apple removed the statement that "It doesn't get PC viruses" and replaced it with "It's built to be safe."

Sophos U.S. senior technology consultant Graham Cluley says, "I view the changes in the messages pushed out by their marketing department as some important baby-steps. Let's hope more Apple Mac owners are also learning to take important security steps -- such as installing antivirus protection."

OS X users were recently hit by malware attacks such as the Flashback trojan which infected over 650,000 Macs leading Kaspersky founder and CEO Eugene Kaspersky to say Apple is 'ten years behind Microsoft in terms of security'.

The new slogan is a pack of lies as well. It is so NOT built to be safe. If you were to attack it with all viruses written for Windows then it will be shredded to pieces! Apple never cared about security because nobody wrote any viruses for it. I c an see bad times coming to mac.

"If you were to attack it with all viruses written for Windows then it will be shredded to pieces!" nothing would happen. Nothing at all. They are written for windows, not mac. I have to assume you meant if they were written for mac too then blah, blah, blah. Again nothing. If you have a decent anti-virus + firewall and are not an idiot then same result. Nothing. In the almost 20 years I have been using Macs I have not met a single person who's had a single infection. Not one ever.

Basically I agree, just for the record: I remember a time under system 5 or 6 or 7 that some malware named WDEF-A and WDEF-B were a common nuisance. No harm done, but hang the system.

Mac users have false sense of security and most of them don't have any antivirus let alone firewall as has been shown with the last worm attack. And most mac users that I know are computer illeterate and they don't know much about such things. I have been using windows for 15 years and never got a virus despite downloading so many dodgy filesand visiting dodgy websites.

my question to you is: are you crazy? goolge chrome on a mac is way better then safari on a mac. Lets face it, chrome is 1 step ahead of safari. but would i go out and buy a goolge laptop? no way. u cant replace a mac! but safari is 2nd best my friend. load them both onto ur computer and put ur lifestyle to the test. undisputed, chrome is by far 1#!!!!!
