United Airlines announced today it's adding full seasons of select Apple TV+ original series to its inflight entertainment systems. The new content is available for free to all passengers on the airline's 130,000+ seatback screens and through the United mobile app.
The initial lineup includes the entire first seasons of award-winning shows like Ted Lasso, Silo, and Shrinking. Also available are the acclaimed spy thriller 'Slow Horses' and 'Severance,' which recently led all series with a record number of Emmy nominations. United plans to add 'The Morning Show' and 'Bad Sisters' in September, and will update the selection with new seasons and content monthly.
The move is part of United's broader investment in its seatback experience, with plans to have over 300,000 screens across its fleet. The timing coincides with a strong period for Apple's streaming service, which just landed a record-breaking 81 Emmy nominations, making the new content a premium addition for travelers.
"Apple creates groundbreaking original series, and United travelers are going to love watching fan-favorite Apple Originals for free on their next flight," said Mark Muren, United's Managing Director of Product, Identity and Loyalty. The airline also noted its previous collaborations with Apple, including support for Live Activities for flight updates on the iPhone Lock Screen and the integration of Find My for tracking luggage with AirTags.
