Check out this video that shows a method for charging your iPhone with fire.

The video from kipkay makes use of a Thermoelectric Generator which can generate a voltage from heat or cold.

This has already been done in a commercial way. I like the BioLite CampStove. Its design is really efficient, you create alot of heat, real fast, enough to boil water quickly, or cook an egg. And since it produces alot of heat, plenty of energy for those Peltiers to generate electricity. Check out BioLite...

I noticed that the red terminal wire was soldered on the negative (-) and the black terminal on the positive (+) terminal. As rule of thumb, red must be connected to + terminal, and black to the (-) neg. terminal. This is DC voltage source and it has polarity, how come it's connected like that?

In regular DC operation red wire (+) provides the power but when you are charging the battery the process becomes inverted thats why here its like that.

Uhh last time I checked the groundwire aka "-" is BLACK! :P

Ground is green. This is straight of an electrical code book. I'm a union electrician and have NEVER seen black for ground. Black wires are always used for hot wires. These wires may feed a switch or outlet and are often used as switch legs. Never used a black wire for a neutral or ground connection. Green wires and bare copper wires are used only for grounding.

Well, in terms of AC current yellow-green wire is ground, but in terms od low voltage Common or "-" is also reffered as ground or simply GND. And yes, it uses a black wire. Always. Check some schematics :)

Correct ! Wire codes for a electrical tech is different than wire codes for a electronics tech.
