apple must sell cheaper officially unlocked iphones and then allow it to be jailbrokened, so many people can afford it and enjoy the power of iphone. Good luck saurik and Good job.

"Tigres wrote at 2009-02-23 Good letter. I just wonder why he did not address the fact that once a device or computer is purchased, how is it Apples business what is running on it and how. When do the end user's get to tell big brother to get out of our business?" I COMPLETELY AGREE with you on that one Tigres. I really don't understand Apple sometimes, in fact a lot of times. If it wasn't for Cydia and the whole Jailbreaking bidness, I myself probably wouldn't be owning an iPhone at the moment, tough luck Steve Jobbs, get a life and let others be happy.

Hi Jay. Great letter, hope it gets there where you want it to get, and hopefully the right people read and understand it. From my behalf, I just wanted to take this possibility here to thank you for providing cydia to me. It´s a great thing to be able to "tune" a phone (just like I did before on my nokia 8800). Without you, I guess I wouldn´t use the iPhone. Best wishes from Germany, and keep up your great work, Mike

exactly if I could not jailbreak my iphone I would have been gone a long time ago. Every time apple does a firmware update I dread it because I know I have to jailbreak again and I'm always nervous ( but it works every time). Hopefully they will take his well written letter into consideration and forget all about jailbreak or maybe Apple will read it and hire him to make the iphone 10x better than it is. Thanks Saurik for all your hard work and time.

Great text liked it from top to bottom, hope it can change a few minds. And tell them that it would probably bring apple more cash.

Good letter. I just wonder why he did not address the fact that once a device or computer is purchased, how is it Apples business what is running on it and how. When do the end user's get to tell big brother to get out of our business?

I think the reason he didnt mention that is because he is very professional, and saying something like that would be very childish. He kinda said that in his own words, but to tell these corporate conglomerates something like "Its my device, I payed for it with my own money, I can do whatever I want to it" is just to pushy. Great article Saurik, I doubt it will change anything, unless your wrote them a very very large check, it wont change anyones minds, but it was beautiful written, and you spoke for the millions of people who are trying to advance the computer world, not limit it.
