A report from the Commercial Times, relayed by Bloomberg, claims that Apple may delay the release of the iPhone 5S to equip it with a larger 4.3-inch display.
Apple Inc. may delay the introduction of the iPhone 5S until the end of the year after the design was changed to feature a bigger 4.3-inch retina display screen, the Commercial Times reported. The company previously scheduled the release for September or October, the Taiwanese newspaper reported, citing unidentified people in the semiconductor industry.
The Commercial Times also noted that a cheaper version of the iPhone is expected by the end of the third quarter following the start of chip shipments in June. TSMC is expected to deliver chips of the iPhone 5S as soon as August.
The move to a 4.3-inch iPhone 5S is considered unlikely; however, Apple's rivals have done increasingly well with their larger devices.

I'm interested in the screen size debate and how it affects portability and durability.

Sure, lets go with something big enough to break, even with plastic and barely use 2 hands and oversized to fit in a palm, if a big screen "saves lives" I don't know what to tell ya about how many iPhone users there are out there, but I'm not saying you're wrong, just helpful facts.

The size of the iPhone is perfect as it is. No change is required. It should be operable with one hand.
We don't wish to carry television screens soon. If anyone wants a bigger iPhone, please just get Samsung instead. They have a 6.2" screen Mega. That's for you.

This argument would never end! Different users have different hand sizes and preferences, so larger phones fit some people better. As I said, make two different sizes: 4.3 to 4.7 inches is a common range for smartphones. We should all agree to disagree!

Apple did not copy from ANYONE, and since when did they steal from sony or LG? They have always made something like tv's or fridges, besides, you do have a point about iphone usage in one hand and it is made small enough.

If you don't need a bigger screen size iPhone, then don't get it. There are lot of people out there who would like one. Do you have to reply to everything. Grow up.

We're all different and no way Apple can satisfy everyone. So why not make 2 different sizes: regular size and bigger size called iPhone Max. Simple as that! That will satisfy everybody and kill the competition!

And make a game changer? Samsung may have changed but it's just getting outdated by size and material. So if Apple did what they did, they'd be accused of copying. Many iPhone users are satisfied with current options, even with the 4S.

I agree with this. There will be even more choices. After all, that's exactly what many people said of making 2 sizes for the iPad mini and it's selling greatly. A market for both. I'd love to see two sizes for the iPhone. It would still be running iOS so there's no comparison. It would certainly be a great addition to the lineup.

Didn't Apple say that they would never be interested in making smaller size 7" tablet? It's not really exact copycat. Apple would be in denial if they don't see that more & more people want bigger screen phones. Don't you want to see pics, watch movies on a bigger screen? How many people can use that Galaxy Note 2 5.5" in ONE hand but yet, that phone is so popular that they even make a Mega Galaxy 6.3"! I'm not even talking about that 5" Galaxy S4, so if Apple don't want to be called copycat, make it a bit wider and at least 4.5" which is about the same like most of smart phones on the market now.

What, we're talking about phones here and how big they'd be. I'm saying a phone that large is a game changer, and regarding the iPad, soon other smartphones will be big enough to look like that.

We need a decent sized phone. Many users need a slightly larger screen. My hands and my eyes need a slightly larger one. My iPad mini is much larger. Also please provide a battery that lasts much longer so we can enjoy all the wonderful things iOS can do for longer. Thank you apple.

Pls, I beg u Apple. Do not do 4.3". It's going back in time, that is. Pls, stick to the size already. I love iphone 3GS, 4, 4S. If u want to increase the display size, don't increase d overall size of the device for that matter. U can reducd the spaces between the touch screen and the body. There's alot of room around the home button or the top part. Use those if u most. But dont increase d size of d iphone just to increase screen size. Iam not enthralled by iPhone 5, for instance. I'll happily stick w/ the 4S cos of size if support will never stop for it like it in iphone 3G.

A phone that size and all the new features of the iOS7 will make the perfect phone. Others need to be afraid, very afraid of this combo. Finally!!

iPhone 5, S4, whatever. People are happy with either phones. It's all about personal preferences. Each phone has its own pros and minor cons. And each function professionally.

It looks like Apple might be following the market trend. I wonder if Apple is starting to look at what other manufacturers are doing with larger screens.

Actually, there is a reason why the iPhone 5 came out when it did compared to other devices. Many users prefer it over competing models.
