A recent report from the Wall Street Journal alleged that Apple was asking suppliers to provide them with display samples for a larger 13-inch iPad.
CiccareseDesign was commissioned by MacRumors to create renderings of such a device. The display size was increased from 9.7-inches to 12.9-inches while maintaining the 4:3 aspect ratio.
If Apple were, however, to maintain the same 132/264 ppi of the current 9.7-inch iPad, this 12.9-inch iPad could conveniently carry an increased resolution of approximately 1366 x 1024 (2712 x 2048 Retina), matching the "HD" display standard in width and exceeding it in height.

if there going to be a 13 inch ipad, it should have a intel processor and have OS X Mountain Lion or just a mac os, that is the only way i am going to buy it
13" is a step in the right direction. Yes, Apple needs (and customers want) a larger screen iOS experience. Despite other comments here, ioS is increasingly capable of doing what most everyone needs - buy a Mac if you need OSX. (But keep in mind that iOS is just a stripped OSX, anyway, so features can be added or removed as needed.) What IS needed are more pixels to see and do more. My ideal iOS device is a full-page-sized 14-15" iPad allowing it to really work as a magazine or document sized reader. After that, I want a 50" version as my real desktop....
You don't go smaller with the iPad Mini just to go bigger with a 13" iPad. If it ran OSX, it would be gimmicky at best (think MS Surface... it SUCKS)
I say no 13" iPad
OS X would make the most sense... they would likely start it with 128 GB for $999. iPad Pro? If they do this I think we will see USB 3.0 and possibly a SD card slot. Take it on the go and when needed you could use a wireless keyboard and trackpad too. I'm in if they do this!!
they are probably experimenting with a touch screen macbook air... apple board questioned the firm on innovation, and Tim Cook's lost the plot entirely.
Until the iPad mini came out, people thought "no way" but Apple have a major competitor in Samsung who have produced the Galaxy at a range of sizes (and given it a stylus).
Some of us would like a 13" or even bigger Apple tablet but now that Wacom is about to release the Dream Tablet for Android and Windows and Samsung have already shown us the Ativ Q (both 13" + devices) - many in the digital arts community will drop Apple until they get their head out of the sand regarding pressure sensitive large art machines.
