The amount of iPhone accidents that have occurred all over the world since 2007, have occurred in just one (1) year in China! So there's CERTAINLY something wrong with the way they use them/charge them! And this doesn't require further discussions or theories, when an original Ligthning Cable (to USB) costs 20 bucks and the power adapter another 20 bucks, while in China you get a (bad) copy the whole set for just under 3 bucks!!!

All lithium ion batteries can and do blow up if they over heat. The iphone and iPad have a over heat sensor that is supposed to shut the battery off at 130 deg F. If this is damaged the battery can blow up. Also if the phone was replaced with a non oem battery it could create an overheat problem.
