Apple has asked its suppliers to increase production of the gold colored iPhone 5s by one third following strong demand for the new color device, reports the WSJ.

Apple Inc. has asked its suppliers to increase production of the gold-colored iPhone 5S by an additional one-third after seeing strong demand, people familiar with the situation said. It isn’t clear whether there are currently supply constraints manufacturing the new iPhone.

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment on the report; however, just minutes after orders for the iPhone 5s went live the first two batches of the gold version sold out. Ship times for all three sizes of the gold device are now indicating only an 'October' ship time.

What's better to get? From the AT&T store or from the Apple store directly, if you can get it? Is walk-ins allow at the store at Apple or do you have to do Pre-ordering?

I thought apple would have realized early on that if you are selling a product in China ...that gold colour, if available, would sell out very very fast as it's a premium colour there ... Guess apple along with many american companies, still don't do their research properly and assume that what is preferred in countries outside of the us is the same as inside the us ... which of course it's not the case ... So they have sold out faster than expected !
