Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Reportedly 'Confirmed'

Specs for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone have reportedly been 'confirmed' by SamMobile.

The device is said to come in both metal and plastic versions with the metal version costing about 800 euros and the plastic version costing about 650 euros.

The S5 will reportedly feature an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560x1440. The size of the screen is still unknown but it's expected to be around 5.25-inches. The back sports a 16MP camera. Depending on whether you get the LTE version or not, the S5 will either be powered by the Exynos 6 processor or a Snapdragon 805.

While the Exynos 6 CPU was expected - which will likely be capable of operating all eight cores simultaneously - to power the handset, it’s only just been confirmed that the S5 will become one of the first smartphones to sport the Snapdragon 805 CPU, which should offer considerably higher performance than the Snapdragon 800 in the Galaxy Note 3, especially in the graphics department. It’s unclear what factors will decide what processor Samsung uses on which model – the metal version will likely have 64-bit support with the Exynos 6 processor, while the plastic model could be powered by the Snapdragon CPU (we’ve been told that LTE isn’t an issue for the Exynos CPU anymore, so we could see a change in tradition and find the plastic version of the phone with only the Snapdragon CPU in every country.)

For its operating system, the S5 will run Android 4.4 KitKat. Samsung will most likely announce the device in March, followed by a launch in April. SamMobile says they're still unclear on a few details, such as the amount of RAM, battery capacity, and whether photos will be more blur-free through hardware OIS, but those details are expected to surface in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Samsung is said to be readying the Galaxy S5 mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom for launch sometime after the Galaxy S5, with an official unveiling taking place sometime in June and May respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will likely be the main competitor to Apple's iPhone 5s until Apple unveils it's next generation smartphone which is expected to debut in September.

You should try a Nexus 5, it would probably change your mind. I've used both android and iOS, i think both are good, i just like the openness of Android tho.

Samsung just can't stop copying Apple, it gets old and no matter what they do the quality is always mediocre in comparison. The software experience is not even close as well.

$800 for a metallic body is justifiable. It will be the first smartphone from South Korean techie and I am hopping it will do well. The Galaxy Note 4 is criticized for its plastic body so if Galaxy 5 comes with metallic body, it will be a big plus. First of all, companies copy each other and it is legal to do so if u aren't copying something that has been patented. The specs for Samsung Galaxy S5 is impressive but in reality, specs are overrated. U can't really tell that much of a difference between a 500 dpi and a 300 dpi screen. A higher dpi doesn't always necessarily mean it is better quality. It is all about the accuracy of the colors and angles that is more important. Also, a chip with more cores doesn't necessarily mean it is faster and a camera with higher megapixels doesn't mean u take higher quality photos. It all has to do with the size of the sensor and lens.

Thank you, people try to tell me "galaxy's cam is better" just because of mp's, some act like it gets everything because of it. You also have a point with quality, it doesn't matter how big or how small a device is and who wants it, it's what's innovative inside it.

I'm imagining the Samsung CEO saying before the presentation: "Release The Kraken" :D Because if the specs are true, than this Smartphone is a Beast! There is nothing to complain about! Best Mobile OS in the World (Android), Metallic and Plastic (suitable for every taste), QHD AMOLED Screen (I'm excepting improvements, but even if the quality is the same as Note3 it would still be the best screen in the World today), 16MPix Cam (with hopefully OIS).

yes i will Prove Geekbench: Note3 2803 > iPhone5s 2606 (PROVE). NO DISCUSSION ANYMORE! And don't be ridiculous, everyone knew that 64bit was coming, Samsung had 3GB RAM on their Note3 and 64bit was absolutely necessary for 4GB RAM so they (on the contrary to iPhone who doesn't need it) had to develop 64Bit processors. And to say 64bit is taken from iPhone is plain stupid because 64Bit processing is available since the early 60th. Apple did it first just to say we where the first but they didn't need it and they new everyone else will do it (they have to, its necessary hardware evolution).
