I would love to see apple support this in thier next firmware. But to help out with the ram issue, implement a feature to were u can background in a sub-sidized state. That way it's easier on ram. This feature would really be useful for apps like pandora, last.fm or other streaming music apps. I'm loving the idea

umm... this is the backgrounder app thats on a jailbroken iphone... lol apple will not allow backgrounding... hence push notifications... (jailbreak your iphone and get the background app in cydia, it allows for one backgrounded app)

The whole thing is wrong, the OS can't see whether you are running on batteries or connected to your office's usb What's the point with running on the background, anyway? Does it make any sense at all? Bleeping apel frikies
