Apps running on the latest Android operating system crash less than iOS apps, according to a report from Crittercism. The company's mobile application performance management (mAPM) solution processes over 30,000 requests per second from over 1 billion mobile users in real-time.
Crittercism gathered performance data to share the 'first-ever' mobile experience benchmark report. The report uses data from Crittercism customers actively optimizing their app performance. App performance across un-optimized applications is expected to be worse.
iOS Findings: ● iOS 7.1 had the lowest crash rate ● iPhone 5 crashes least ● Apps on iPhones are more stable than iPads ● Older iPads crash more ● iOS 6 crashed 2.5% of the time ● iOS 7 crashed 2.1% of the time ● iOS 7.1 is the most stable with a 1.6% crash rate
Android Findings: ● Gingerbread has the highest crash rate ● Samsung owns the top spots for both Android phones and tablets stability ● Android tablets have worse crash rates than Android phones ● Apps on Gingerbread crashed 1.7% of the time ● KitKat, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean crashed 0.7% of the time besting any iOS version tested.
Notably, the gaming category of apps crashed way more than any other category. Gaming apps had a crash rate of 4.4% compared to 1.8% for media apps, 1.4% for news and entertainment apps, 1.2% for business apps, 0.6% for social apps, and 0.4% for ecommerce apps.

not really a scientific study... you could easily infer the reason Apple devices crash more often is because their users more commonly use gaming and graphic intensive apps--not really a surprise there.
Are you liveing in the twylight zone the google play store surpassed ios apps over a year ago! look it up its on the net. Ios apps crash more than android look that up to!
You should be able to know the answers since you are so sure of your self. Me personally,I have no knowledge to answer any of those questions so I don't mind being educated from you at all.
I haven't any problem with all app on idevice since my 3gs until my 5s right now, i have bought samsung run jellybean and it's really different from ios. Android have lag and bad performance almost on all app, for me if you're techinicians and like to create your gadget with unuseful modification then you choose android. And if you're a simply user with higher need capability then you can choose ios as your private assitant. It's fact when you actually try both os...
These stats aren't realistic. Where did they find these billions of mobile users from? I've never heard of this utility or this company and I know Apple won't share their data.
Even if they were able to organize this, you can't lump everyone together, you need to differentiate Jailbroken phones as those have a higher risk of crashing. I've had every single iPhone starting from the 3G, and I only remember an app crashing a few times in all these years. Half of those years I was using a jailbroken phone which was probably the reason for the crashes.... Haven't had an app crash on me in years!!
No wonder the report is in favor of Android...
Crittercism are using Android platform for their developmental services...
I didn't expect anything less..
All these reaserchers and surveys are competely biased.
I will believe that when the research is done from independent company that it is not even in the mobile computing field..
I
My iPhone with iOS 7.03 doesn't have any issues and mine is jail broke. I also installed the SSL patch from cydia. Everything runs smooth except for one tweak to change my status bar but the developer is in the process of fixing it but I found a work around for now till the update is released. I'm very happy with my iPhone 5S
