Woman Tragically Killed By Subway Train After Fumbling With iPad and Falling Onto the Tracks

A woman was tragically killed by a subway train at Union Square on Saturday after fumbling to catch a dropped iPad and falling on the tracks, reports the New York Post.

Aracelis Ayuso, 21, was waiting for a Brooklyn-bound No. 4 train when she lost her grip on the tablet around 3:30 p.m., cops said. When the East Harlem resident tried to catch the device, she apparently lost her footing, causing her to tumble forward and land on the tracks just as the train was coming.

The conductor was able to spot Ayuso but was unable to stop the train in time. Police originally believed that Ayuso may have been intoxicated; however, on Sunday they said that there were no obvious signs she'd been drinking. A toxicology report is still pending.

This tragic accident follows another report of a 15 year girl who was killed trying to prevent the theft of her iPhone.

Please remember that while you may really love your iPhone, iPad, or other Apple device. It's not worth putting your life at risk for.

The comments on this article are sickening. Just to clarify for you all, she is an American. She also never owned an iPad so whoever originally wrote the article that started the debate on whether she dropped an iPad or iPod or phone, you're all wrong and should really check your facts! I knew her personally and she was one of the smartest sweetand loving people you could ever meet. She fell forward out of complete exhaustion. It was a horrible accident. Please let her RIP and let her family grieve without having to read comments like these.

It's a natural reaction to try and grab something that falls from your hands. The in intended consequence was that she lost balance and a train happen to come at the same time. Just bad luck!

My family knows to let the device fall not to jump and try to catch it, not worried :)

Thank you, I was being sarcastic, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. It is a reference to a quote that came from Obama wanting to ban an inanimate object and not the people who used them for evil.

I personally used my firearms to protect my kids and my family. If I didn't have it at the time, my kids probably would've been kidnapped or killed or both.

Apple fan boys will say... If it was an android she would have let it fall on the tracks to be crushed because it's not an apple. But she did the right thing you life is worth giving for Apple.

Why do people use their tablets in public. They're so easy to steal or drop.

Nothing in this article said that the woman was an American.

She probably just instinctively reached for it without even consciously realising her life was at risk. My condolences to the family.
