AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) for iPhone has been updated to support push notifications. The application can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store.

Whats New in This Version
This version of AIM (Free Edition) includes minor fixes for improved stability and performance and also supports Apple's Push Notification service on iPhone OS 3.0 or later. Stay logged in for up to 24 hours and receive notifications through Push Notification or via SMS when you receive new IMs.

this is an ongoing issue, apparently apple glitched the push notification on unlocked iphones 2G, people are experiencing this on beejive as well as AIM app http://brambourgonjon.wordpress.com/2009/06/18/push-2g/ http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f201/76273.htm

push notification not working; played with all options but i only get the messages if i launch the app
