SnapPower Charger is a power outlet cover plate that can charge your iPhone with no wiring or difficult installation needed.
The outlet cover plate that charges everything USB - no silly hardwiring, just magic.
Overview ● Powerful 1-amp USB charger built into an outlet cover plate. ● Charges any USB device (phones, phablets, tablets, hotspots, etc.) and eliminates the need for bulky wall warts. ● Installs in seconds over any standard outlet in your home. ● There’s no wiring to mess with, and no batteries to sort out. Just bring a screwdriver and a good attitude. ● For renters, this solution provides convenient wall charging that can be taken with you when you move. If you move out, just pop the old cover back on.
The SnapPower Charger has been successfully funded on Kickstarter with $265,000 raised, exceeding its $35,000 goal. There are still 44 days left for you to pledge $14 to get one of the first units.
You can choose from a duplex or decor style plate and white, light almond, and ivory colors. Delivery is expected in August.
iPad users should note that the 1 amp charger built into the device is significantly less powerful than the 2.4 amp iPad charger from Apple. While it will still work, it will charge your tablet at a slower speed.

Looks cool, but why 1amp instead of 2.1?

The branding makes it expensive, similar to Apple products, even if it is made in China.

I have an 13,000 mAh external battery that shoots out 2.1 amps. It'll fully charge an iPhone 6 Plus in 40~mins. What's the point of Snap Power? Is there anything proprietary about this than the fact you can snap it on an existing outlet?

Yes there is... This one doesn't have a battery... It draws current from the outlet. Watch the clip to the end :)

Or just buy an ampy and have the battery charger that charges anywhere without outlets or to be clear without electricity. Just move it with slow walk or fast paced moving machines and those movements charge it. I use it with exercise. Not to mention more saved on electricity bills, good idea with this but not worth it. The ampy is the charger I meant and it's portable.

Why not just get one of the many already available power outlets with USB connectors. They also usually put out more power than this item, and look better.

Yeah, that's definitely a way better option and available right away but most people probably don't know how to change a power outlet. Also, it's not something you would want to do if you were renting.
